Ben is a junior permanent researcher at the Institut de Physique Théorique (IPhT) and French CEA at Université Paris-Saclay. Ben obtained his PhD from the University of Pennsylvania in 2016 under the supervision of Charles Kane on “transport signatures of quantum phase transitions and the interplay of geometry and topology in nodal materials.”
Ben is known for developing methods based on the group theory of crystalline solids for predicting, characterizing, and enumerating topological states of matter and faciliating their identification in solid-state materials. Several of Ben’s theoretical predictions were subsequently confirmed in experiment, especially with regard to topological semimetals.
